Reviews & Product News

Cyclist Magazine editor, James Spender tested the TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS in the October issue, describing the racing bike as “Superb, elegant, assertive – but more than that, they managed to make it fast”.

Giant UK Product Manager David Ward told Cyclist they wanted to create a bigger gap between the TCR and Propel. “To do that we reduced weight by 10%, increased tyre clearance to 33mm and increased compliance to redefine – again – the TCR as the lightest, most comfortable race bike option”.

The TCRs are designed to be lightweight and stiff, with Spender’s TCR Advanced Pro weighing 7.3kg (M/L size). The Cyclist editor states “These are stiff frames, designed to be raced, and that’s exactly how the TCR feels.”

Spender next discusses how well the TCR wears its weight which makes it ascend with such explosive pop. “It feels lighter up top, heavier lower down, such that side-to-side bike throwing is much easier”.

He continues to write “This sort of weight concentration also helps the TCR in descents, providing a lower centre of gravity and hence a greater feeling of stability.”

The TCR Advanced Pro 0 AXS runs Giant’s SLR 0 carbon wheels. Spender claims they are great all-round wheels, describing them as ‘light, agile and super aero’.

Overall, Spender claims the TCR Advanced Pro is great value for money and that he can’t fault the components. He summarises the bike by writing “The TCR looks superb, elegant, assertive. But more than that, they managed to make it fast.”
